As we head into the summer we wanted to thank everyone for helping to make this a fantastic year at ARYES. We hope you all have a safe and relaxing summer!

Just a reminder that ARYES will re-open for the 2024/25 year on Tuesday September 3rd 2024 for Grade 1-6 students and they will be dismissed on the first day at 10:51am. We will update you prior to the first day on where students will go upon arrival. The first day for all our Kindergarten students will be on Monday September 9th 2024 as part of our gradual phase in schedule. Kindergarten teachers will be in contact with parents prior to this date with more details on the phase in schedule provided at Welcome to K. The first full day for Kindergarten students will be Friday September 13th 2024.

ARYES Orange Shirt Day – June 3rd 2021

As some of you may be aware, we will be participating in the District Orange shirt day on Thursday to honour and empathize with the families and communities impacted by the tragic discovery in Kamloops last week. We would encourage students/staff to wear orange on that day, whether it is a t-shirt, orange shirt cut out or orange ribbon, etc.

As a District, we will also be holding a moment of silence on that day at 9:45am and doing some activities. These activities include:
– a video presentation put together by our Indigenous Education Center that all students will be watching simultaneously in our school. The presentation will include an opening by our Superintendent Stephen Petrucci, Indigenous component, SD 60 Spirit of the Peace Drummers (prayer song), SD 60 Spirit of the Peace Jingle Dancers (healing dance)
– Students are colouring symbols of orange hearts and feathers and we will be displaying these.

Through the guidance of our Indigenous Education department, we are mindful that our first priority when approaching this is the well-being of our students. While this discovery will be traumatic for many people, we will be mindful of an approach that is age appropriate. It may be helpful for families to have conversations at home before Thursday to help students understand and process the event.

ARYES Badminton Season

Congratulations to all our badminton players at ARYES as we wrapped up our 2021 season yesterday. This week we had our Gr 4, 5 and 6 tournaments and were impressed with the level of competition we had here. Thanks to all that came out and participated this year and to our coaches Mr. English, Ms. Hedges, Ms. Barclay and Mr. Bennett. Here is a list of our top finishers from the three tournament days.

ARYES Ready, Set, Learn

A big thank you to all those that attended our Ready, Set, Learn program today. The weather cooperated and we were able to enjoy our front area. We hope you all had a wonderful time. The goal of Ready, Set, Learn is to prepare pre-kindergarten children for a positive start in their school journey and welcome them into our school community. This is a different event then our Welcome to Kindergarten which will be taking place in late May. There will be two more sessions offered in total. The following dates are scheduled this year for our Ready, Set, Learn program.

The dates are as follows

– Tuesday May 11th 2021, 9:00-10:00am

– Friday May 21st 2021, 9:00-10:00am

In order to follow COVID safety guidelines participants must pre-register and we will have a maximum of 10 spots available at each event. You can sign-up for all three if you wish, but we may have to adjust this if we have more than 10 sign up. You can register by emailing ary@prn.bc.ca or calling us at 236-365-2793. Each child can have one adult accompany them and adults must follow our safety procedures including the daily health check, signing in upon arrival and wearing a mask at all times in the building. Sessions will be outdoors as much as possible, so we ask that children come dressed for this. We are looking forward to meeting all of you and welcoming you to Anne Roberts Young Elementary School. Yearbook Orders

Hello ARY community! As we are coming into the last months of our very first year at Anne Roberts Young, we will be putting the finishing touches on our year book. It will be a wonderful memory of the opening year of our beautiful school!

Yearbooks are $30 each and can be purchased with cash, cheque or e-transfer to ary@prn.bc.ca. Please ensure you include the students name when purchasing. Orders can only be taken until May 24, 2021. At that time our order has to be into the publisher and no more orders can be placed.
